To promote the orderly and healthy development of the food industry, the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued the ‘Guidance on Promoting the Healthy Development of Food Industry’.
The ‘Guidance’ proposed the main goal that by 2020, the scale, intelligent, intensive and green development level of food industry will obviously elevate with corresponding supply quality and efficiency.
Industrial scale will be growing, industrial structure of continuous optimisation, and main business income of above-scale food industry enterprises is set to increase at an average annual rate of 7% or so.
Innovation capacity will be significantly enhanced, integration level of ‘information technology and industrialization’ going up high, where new technologies, new products, new patterns and new formats continue emerging.
Food safety and security level will be steadily improved, and standard system further completed.
Resource utilisation and energy conservation and emission reduction will achieve outstanding results, energy consumption, water consumption and major pollutant emissions further decline.
The ‘Guidance’ also presented the following five main tasks:
Firstly, to improve the supply structure and supply quality; second, to optimise the industrial structure, and facilitate transformation and upgrading; third, to strengthen innovation drive and accelerate the integration of ‘information technology and industrialization’; fourth, to co-ordinate domestic and foreign sides, and expand open cooperation; fifth, to enhance regulatory capacity and safety level.
